Fire Free Yard Debris Disposal Dates

Dispose of your needles, leaves, branches and brush for FREE! Accepted: Grass clippings, brush, plant prunings, pine needles, pine cones, weeds, trimmings and branches, stumps or trees (no larger than 12” diameter). NOT Accepted: Sod, dirt, rocks, lumber, metal, trash or plastics of any kind, including plastic bags, and any stumps or trees larger than 12” diameter.

Model Defensible Space Code

The Oregon State Fire Marshal and its partners have developed a model defensible space code that local governments across Oregon can adopt. This code provides a baseline safety standard for communities and can be expanded upon to meet local needs. Click here to view the Defensible Space Code.

Deschutes County Air Curtain Burner

Deschutes County’s air curtain burner arrived Friday. DEQ permitting is soon to be completed. Use will begin as soon as possible in areas around La Pine. The unit is not available for community use or loan. Up to forty tax lots will be treated in Year 1 under the Community Wildfire Defense Grant. Additional county work on ingress/egress routes is being planned.

Team Rubicon Community Wildfire Fuels Reduction Assistance

UDRC Low-income Senior or Disabled Defensible Space Program

The Low-income Defensible Space program is open for new applications. UDRC has partnered with Council on Aging of Central Oregon to provide free wildfire fuels reduction services for low-income senior or low-income disabled homeowners within the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District.

A representative from UDRC will assess your property and propose a fuels reduction project to improve your defensible space for a wildfire.
