Today, May 13, Firefighters on the Deschutes National Forest are conducting prescribed burn operations approximately 10 miles south of Bend and 5 miles east of Sunriver. If conditions are favorable, firefighters will ignite up to 87 acres east of Highway 97 near the Exit 153 Interchange and directly north of Forest Service Road 9720.
Smoke will be visible from Highway 97, Bend, La Pine and Sunriver. Sunriver and south Bend may experience some impacts. Signage will be in place and drivers are asked to slow down and turn on headlights.
